In short: what you do in Torah: Turn It is yours. The app collects nothing. There's no account and no server of ours, nothing is sent to us, and there are no analytics, ads or tracking.
What stays on your device
The Torah text, the guides and the glossary are built into the app. To keep your place and your preferences, it saves these in its own storage on your iPhone or iPad:
- which readings you've done, and where you left off,
- your highlights, and any notes you write on them or on the study questions,
- your display settings, reading calendar (Israel or diaspora) and reminder choices,
- a birthday, only if you enter one to find a bar or bat mitzvah portion,
- a small summary of this week's portion that the Home Screen widget shows.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud, your highlights, notes and reading progress sync between your own devices through Apple's iCloud key-value storage, in your iCloud account. We can't see them. Deleting the app removes its copy on that device.
Reminders
Reminders are notifications your device schedules for itself. Nothing is sent from a server. The app asks permission only when you turn a reminder on.
Links out
Some screens link to Sefaria, a free library of Jewish texts, and to the Reform movement's own pages (ReformJudaism.org, the Religious Action Center, the URJ and the CCAR). Tapping one opens that site in your browser, where its own privacy policy applies. The app itself makes no internet requests.
Children
The app collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this ever changes, this page will say so before the version that changes it is released, and the date above will change.
